New York State Announces Licensing Process for Behavior Analysts

On June 3, 2014 the New York State Office of the Professions formally announced the application process for licensed behavior analysts and certified behavior analyst assistants. The application process is the first step in implementing the landmark ABA License Bill that was enacted by Governor Cuomo on January 10, 2014. Individuals seeking to become licensed behavior analysts before January 9,  2016 must meet the following requirements, these requirements will change on January 10, 2016:

1. posses a current certification from the national Behavior Analyst Certification Board

2. submit a 4-page application

3. pay required fee

4. be at least 21 years of age

5. complete a 3-hour training in the identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment

6. be of good moral character

We have been closely monitoring the development of the New York licensing standards for Behavior Analysts, and we are proud to state that the Behavior Analysts providing Applied Behavior Analysis services at the Eden II Diagnostic and Outreach Center will be among the first individuals to obtain this new license.

More information about the state licenses for individuals who provide ABA services is available at the New York Office of the Professions website.
