Jan Downey, formerly the Director of Long Island Programs and Services for Eden II/Genesis, is currently the Director of Speech-Language and Communication Services for Eden II/Genesis Programs. She is also an adjunct professor at L.I. University/C.W. Post in Greenvale, New York. Jan is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in New York State, and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Long Island University/C.W. Post in Speech-Language Pathology, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate at Adelphi University’s Doctoral Program for Speech Sciences. Jan is an active participant in the Eden II/Genesis Outreach Department conducting presentations on speech and language topics related to autism as well as providing consultation to school districts. She serves on the “Parent Partners Project Advisory Board” at Winthrop University Hospital’s Department of Behavioral Pediatrics in Mineola, New York. On a personal note, Jan is the mother of two sons with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, bringing both the personal and professional perspectives to her presentations.
