On April 25, 2014 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning to several companies that manufacture products or offer therapies claiming to treat or cure autism. According to the FDA: “some of these so-called therapies carry significant health risks”. The specific products and therapies named in the warning include the following: Chelation Therapies, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Miracle Mineral Solution, Detoxifying Clay Baths, and CocoKefir probiotics products. The FDA has warned numerous companies that provide these therapies or manufacture these products that they face possible legal action if they continue to make false or misleading claims about these therapies and products. Families of individuals with autism are encouraged to speak to their health care provider about treatments for autism that are supported by scientific research, such as Applied Behavior Analysis.
